Mega Man: Dual Override (aka Mega Man 12) is set to launch in 2027 on both Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. Maintaining the 3D assets introduced in Mega Man 11, this 2D run-and-gun platformer has been shrouded in mystery since its reveal during The Game Awards in 2025. Now, fans have finally gotten a proper look at Dual Override—and you can too!

There’s a lot to soak in with this reveal. First and foremost, Proto Man is making a return, after having been absent in Mega Man 11. Not only is Mega Man’s pseudo brother along for the ride, he’s also fully playable, boasting his own move set (as he is wont to do). There are also new features aplenty, including the Override System, which allows the player to temporarily exceed their character’s maximum power levels. However, when Override runs dry, a temporary loss in performance follows, meaning players will have to be smart about deploying it during battle. The Chip System allows players to use Custom Chips to augment both Mega Man and Proto Man during gameplay. This includes abilities like rapid-fire, protective bubbles, hovering, and more.

Beyond that, Dual Override is also promising the usual litany of weapons that the franchise is known for, as well as the potential for returning Robot Masters, and more. We’ll be talking about this one in greater detail shortly, but in the meanwhile let us know what you think of Mega Man: Dual Override in the comments and on social media!
